About

Opened in 1915, the San Diego Zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, and has a history rich with important research, breeding of rare animals (especially pandas!) and providing a great experience for all ages.

The zoologists here care for thousands of species, and have built habitats that give the visitors a unique look into their natural environment. With various winding trails through forest, jungle and desert landscapes, the Zoo is home to an array of species from all around the world.

Some habitats include:

  • Africa Rocks
  • Asian Passage
  • Lost Forest
  • Outback
  • Panda Canyon
  • Urban Jungle
  • Outback
  • Northern Frontier
  • Elephant Odyssey

San Diego Zoo also features the interactive Discovery Outpost, a hands-on experience for children of all ages!

The habitats are built for the animals, so trekking through can be a bit tiring. Bus tours offered by the park are recommended.
