FOCAS stands for Friends of County Animal Shelters. FOCAS exists primarily to encourage a strong adoption program for animals impounded in the three shelters operated by the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services. FOCAS is a volunteer, non-profit organization formed to help the lost and abandoned dogs and cats in these public shelters. FOCAS has no shelters of its own, but works with the three County shelters: North (Carlsbad), South (Bonita), and Central San Diego. FOCAS assists these dogs and cats in a variety of ways.
